SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel.
SkillsUSA membership is only $15 per year and allows students to participate in various activities ranging from community service projects, field trips, and "fun days" that include cookouts and recreational activities (basketball, softball, horseshoes, music).
Career Tech. Student Organizations (C.T.S.O.)
SkillsUSA offers members an opportunity to develop leadership and teamwork qualities through a "Career Tech Student Organization" or CTSO. Students can run for officer positions (president, vice president, treasurer, etc.) or simply be an active member that participates in the many activities our CTSO sponsors throughout the year. Active members will develop essential skills that will be critical to their success in the workforce.
SkillsUSA offers the opportunity for students to participate in competitions to showcase the skills they've learned. The Collision Repair program gives the students a chance to compete at the local, state and national levels. Students choose between the following two competitions:
Auto Refinishing Technology - This competition tests the students skills in color matching, vehicle masking, sanding/priming panels and spray gun techniques.
Collision Repair - Aspects of this competition include plastic repair, welding, metal working and frame measurement.
Alabama SkillsUSA State Competition
The Alabama SkillsUSA State Competition is at the BJCC Complex in downtown Birmingham. Students stay at the Sheraton Hotel and have the opportunity to socialize with competitors from other schools throughout the state. They experience 3 days of fun, entertainment and competition that they'll remember the rest of their life.
