Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Jamie Darwin
Dear Parents and Families of WHS Students,
My name is Jamie Darwin and I was appointed as the new principal at Woodville High School on April 11, 2017. It is my privilege and honor to join the faculty of WHS and the community of Woodville. One of the major goals at WHS is to “Restore The Roar”. We are looking to bring back and increase the Pride in the Panthers.
Prior to joining the Panther staff, I served in a number of positions over the past 19 years. I have been a classroom teacher, a coach, and most recently, the assistant principal at Pisgah High School. In addition to Pisgah, I have also worked at Valley Head and North Sand Mountain. I received my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Alabama. My wife, Gequetta, and I have been married since 2004. We have two children, Finley, our 12 year-old daughter and Jay Parker, our son, who passed away in 2014 at the age of seven. We currently live in the Pleasant View community on Sand Mountain.
We are looking to create a “Culture of Greatness” at Woodville. My primary objective, outside of safety, will be to ensure that every student is receiving a high-quality education from the teachers at Woodville. A well-rounded education not only means outstanding instruction from top-notch teachers, but also extracurricular opportunities and supports that enable students to develop character, cultivate passions, and explore the world outside of the classroom. Ultimately, we are preparing your child to be ready for college and 21st century careers.
I believe great schools are built upon hard work and attention to detail. This work ethic and attentiveness must come from the faculty, staff, students, and the community. Your support in making Woodville the greatest it can be is paramount. We are always looking for parental support and volunteers.
I look forward to meeting with you throughout the year and creating the best school in Jackson County and beyond. Feel free to stop by or contact me if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to see what is happening at WHS.
