    COURSE DESCRIPTION:

           The study of the history of the United States in grades 10 and 11t, teaches students five centuries of social, economic, geographic, and political development in the United States.  The students begin with the earliest discoveries on the North American continent and follow a chronological study of major events, issues, movements, leaders, and groups of people of the United States, from a national and an Alabama perspective.  The 10th grade will cover from Early Settlement up to the Civil War.  The 11th grade students will cover The Industrial Revolution, World War I, and II, to present day.  The content standards build upon the foundation students gained in the study of the United States in grades 5 and 6, as well as the study of world history in grades 8 and 9.

     

    EXAMS:

           Students will take an exam every Thursday worth 100 points.

     

    HOMEWORK / CLASS WORK:

          There will be one homework assignment worth 100 points due every week.  Every Friday students will have an opportunity to earn an additional 100 bonus points, by doing a current event.  If the student does not participate it wil not affect the student's grade.

     

    GRADING POLICY:

          Grades will be based on the percentage of total points earned, with an A=100-90, B=89-90, C=79-70, D=69-60, and F=59-0.
